Visiting Scholar of Color lecture

UW-L’s Institute for Latina/o and Latin American Studies will host visiting scholar Daniel Balderston, professor of Spanish, University of Iowa, for a talk at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, in the Ward Room in Cartwright Center. A reception will follow. Balderston will present “Intrusions from the Future, Glimmers from the Past: Ruins in the Works of Jorge Luis Borges” (Buenos Aires 1899-Geneva 1986). Balderston is president of Instituto Internacional de Literatura Latinoamericana.
Salsa Party

Although Salsa Seminar 3 is not happening this semester, there will still be a Salsa Fiesta! Past parties have included a mini lesson for about an hour with salsa and hip-hop music all night. Prizes are awarded. Tickets are $10, and anyone from the community is welcome to attend. Past parties have been at the Concordia Ballroom (near the West and La Crosse St intersection).
